Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County - Thrivent Faith Build

No matter one’s age, having a decent place to call home — a place to feel secure — can lead to future success. The need for affordable housing is immense, and the lasting impact it can have on homeowners and their families is undeniable.

Habitat for Humanity knows that stable housing – housing that is safe, decent and affordable – is foundational to individuals, families, to the communities in which we live and to the economies in which we all participate. Affordable homeownership helps create the conditions that free families from instability, stress and fear, and encourages self-reliance and confidence in nearly every aspect of their lives.

Once again in 2021, Grace Through Faith Ministries will be a partner in the Thrivent Faith Build.  This year’s Faith Build will be located at 1606 Jasmine Drive, Alexandria.  Our GTFM team has been given the day of July 12 to participate in the build. Our projected job for that day will be interior trim work.

If you are interested in being a part of the build team, please call Kelli at Grace 320-524-2262 or Nancy at Faith 218-948-2574 to add your name to the list.  You can also sign up by clicking the link below.  Space is limited to 8 workers per shift.  We will fill both the morning (8:30 – 12:00) and afternoon (1:00 – 4:30) shifts for July 12.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Along with our volunteer hours comes a shared financial commitment of $1,500 from our congregations. All contributions are matched dollar for dollar by Thrivent.  If you are able, please consider a financial donation to support our commitment to this life-changing ministry. Checks can be dropped off or mailed to either church office or can be left in the offering plate with the memo “HFH Faith Build”.

There are many ways to volunteer.  You don’t have to be a carpenter or craftsman to contribute.  Many hands make light work and every role is important.  Habitat volunteers -- Habitat Heroes -- are the heart of the Habitat organization! Whether swinging a hammer, helping in the office or working in the ReStore, every volunteer has a lasting impact on local families.

Habitat volunteers do an outstanding job and Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County is extremely grateful to have all of us help support Habitat's mission. More information about Habitat for Humanity can be found on their website hfhdouglascounty.org or by calling Douglas County Habitat at 320-762-4255.

Did you know? 1,070 volunteers shared 11,079 volunteer hours with HFHDC in FY 2019-2020!  Your acts of kindness have impacted 309 people's lives.
